PROCEDURES FOR WBRAPID |
BENEFITS
• Results in 15 minutes
• No special equipment is
needed
• Results are easy to interpret
• Blood, serum or plasma
can be used as sample
• Sample collected any time of
the day can be used
• No sample preparation
• Small volume: 25 µl (serum/plasma); 35 µl
(whole blood)
• 98 - 100% sensitivity
• 100% specificity |
|
i Add serum / plasma / whole blood.

For serum / plasma sample:
Add 25 µl sample to square well.
Sample will start wicking up the membrane.
Wait till the wet sample front reaches
the blue line.
For whole blood sample:
Add 35 µl sample to square well followed by 1 drop of chase buffer to the same well. Sample will start wicking up the membrane. Wait till the wet sample front reaches the blue line. |
PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS
Method : Immunochromatography
Detection : Human IgG4 against a specific W. bancrofti recombinant protein
Specimen : Serum, plasma and
whole blood
Specimen volume : 25 µl (serum/plasma); 35 µl
(whole blood)
Shelf life : 18 months
Assay time : 15 minutes |
|
ii Add 2 drops of chase buffer to well 2.

|
|
APPLICATION
For detection of individuals with bancroftian filariasis including mapping of population in areas with the disease.
|
|
iii

Pull clear tab until resistance is felt.
Add 1 drop of chase buffer to square well. Start timing.
For serum / plasma sample :
Read results within 15 minutes.
For whole blood sample :
Read results within 25 minutes. |
|
INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS
1. Positive for Wuchereria brancrofti specific antibodies if coloured bands appear at the Test line (C) and Control line (B). Any intensity of band should be considered as a positive.
2. Negative for Wuchereria brancrofti specific antibodies if only the Control line (B) is visible through the viewing window.
3. Invalid if the Control line (B) is absent. If this occurs, the assay should be repeated using a new test cassette. |
